Tom Ratzlaff, Mayor of Park Falls, Endorses Janet Bewley for State Senate

Superior, WI – Janet Bewley, Democratic candidate for Wisconsin’s 25th State Senate District seat, has been endorsed by Tom Ratzlaff, the Mayor of Park Falls and one of her opponents in the August Democratic primary.

“I am pleased to have Mayor Ratzlaff’s endorsement,” said Bewley.  “Tom was a worthy opponent and brought a valuable perspective to our primary debates.  He has unselfishly served the people of Park Falls as their mayor for the past 10 years and has brought a lot of positive change to Price County. I wish him well with his continued service and dedication to improving the lives of the people of Park Falls and Price County.”

Mayor Ratzlaff said that he was endorsing Bewley because he knows she isn’t afraid to stand up for local control.  “The Republican party used to be the party of local control, but that’s no longer true,” said Ratzlaff.  “Instead they’ve increased the role of state government and the number of unfunded mandates on rural communities. Although her opponent talks about the need for local control, the people of Northern Wisconsin cannot take the chance that he will turn his back on local government officials and residents once he gets to Madison.”

Bewley noted that she looks forward to collaborating with Mayor Ratzlaff on the various issues that affect Northern Wisconsin, like preserving local control and bringing more family-sustaining jobs to the North.

Janet Bewley’s campaign for the State Senate has broad community support. Janet currently serves in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 74th Assembly District, which makes up one third of the 25th Senate District. Prior to serving in the Assembly, Janet’s professional career in northern Wisconsin spanned almost 30 years, including the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, HRK Group, Bayfield, Mary H. Rice Foundation, Northland College, and the Ashland City Council.

The 25th Senate District covers 7,500 square miles in northwestern Wisconsin along the Minnesota border and the shore of Lake Superior. It includes all of Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Douglas, Iron, Price, and Washburn counties and parts of Burnett, Dunn, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix and Vilas counties. The general election is November 4th.
